Thanks for posting this Jim. The Charter for Compassion could be a significant historical event.
I would vote for you as one of the leaders. You have been a major influence for ecumenism through your books and just being you.
You not only embrace people's various theologies and religions, you include all people whether religious or not.
Most importantly, to me at least, you love and have great compassion for the nobodies of this world, the forgotten, the rejected, the misunderstood, the poor - sounds like Jesus's teaching of compassion to me.
I read Karen's bio and she is quoted
"I say that religion isn't about believing things. It's ethical alchemy. It's about behaving in a way that changes you, that gives you intimations of holiness and sacredness."
Jim, I haven't listened to this yet, but as soon as I saw your blog title I thought of Karen Armstrong. Just yesterday I finished her autobiography "The Spiral Staircase". How serendipitious is that?!
