I dont know about you, but I have always loved Pepe lePew. He is so optimistic and confident about Love and his role in making people happy. "your aloneness is almost over"
He doesnt even seem to notice he is a little ....stinky...after all God/Love made him that way so how could that be a bad thing? He just wants to be love, and smooch alot...
Just to continue my soliloquy a bit...I probably should have clarified that Pepe is optimistic and confident about Love (God) and his own role in making people happy - because he KNOWS it is Love (God) doing the Love and Happy stuff through Pepe, and God made him the way he is so he can handle the "job" when the time became right.
Pepe is obviously a grown up. He probably is aware he isn’t the perfect example of what God/Love should look or smell like. .... In his childhood, maybe people told him about his stinky-ness over and over again. Which probably made him pretty vulnerable in his teen years and even now maybe,...Warner bros just chooses not to show that part :o) Most of the time he knows however that this is how he is made, and this is what he is supposed to do.
At some point I wonder if the Spirit, perhaps in the guise of a kind friend, let him know how precious he is despite his stinky-ness and affirmed his perfect "lover-ness". The spirit was bestowed on him and he took it to heart and his soul responded!
Now... you might ask "why is it ok, for him to force his attentions on an unwilling partner?" Well... Don’t we all resist Love / God in one way or another at some times? I know I do. I know a lot a people that are uncomfortable with any kind of intimacy. I resist the stuff that makes me uncomfortable what ever it is even though it may be the right thing to do or the best thing for me to do. God at times doesn’t seem to respect that and forces his will on me whether I like it or not.
I’m not saying Pepe is right in what he does with the girl cat. He seems to just assume she is a simpatico creature! As observers we know she wouldn’t have the stripe down her back, if she had been able to read the sign and hadn’t rubbed against the fence.
Maybe that is Pepe's problem... he is trying to relate with someone of an entirely different species.
I don’t know... I still think the lovely cat will at some point wake up and realize what a delight it is to have such Love chasing after her, even if it may not be...smell like... what she expected!
What would be worse in my opinion is no Love at all!
Keren, I love your Pepe LePew mascot for TLIO, and how you relate him to the Source of Love. What jumped out at me was, "Your aloneness is almost over". What life-giving words those can be to so many who don't feel chased by Love or worthy of it.
